What happened next?
I booked an MRI scan. My friend came with me, and we had a lot of fun.
I had to wait eight days before my doctor received my results. I was called in for an appointment. I already knew what the answer would be…
So I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. A pituitary macroadenoma. The doctor explained that there are small microadenomas and then there are larger ones, which are called macroadenomas. She told me that the good news is that it’s not malignant, but unfortunately, I have a larger tumor. Usually, this tumor needs to be removed surgically, but there is also an oral medication that should shrink the tumor.

I started crying and said I didn’t want the surgery. I started crying because she told me I had the larger version, and she said it was 11 mm, but I heard 11 cm. The whole time I was driving home and thinking about how I was going to tell my family, I thought it was damn big.
When I told my family about it, we were all shocked. Then one of my sisters asked me to send her a photo of my medical records, which showed where the tumor was located and other details like that. I hadn’t even looked at the documents myself because I was in shock. Then my sister told me that it was 11 mm, not cm. We both started laughing because we felt relieved—it wasn’t that bad after all.

I started oral treatment and knew it would work. It has to work. I don’t want surgery. That would be my last choice.
